...and just remember this one important point.

"There are no Americans at the airport."

Actually you'll never know the real truth. Who knows what the real truth is at times.

ugh, im not gonna get into this whole thing in here(surprised the thread has made it this far) except to say, AND ITS JUST MY OPINION, that the meer fact that France wanted to get involved in the rebuilding process AFTER the main war is over just ticks me the f**k off!! Not willing to drop any soldiers on the ground and get "invovled" in what they say isn't just...but WAIT! now that you guys did all the dirty work, we'll be willing to help you out. #Fist

by all means, feel free to flame me as you wish...its not gonna change my opinion on the issue.

Yes we gave to Saddam in 1988 I believe to help him defend himself against the Iran gov. Maybe wrong but Iran wasnt an Allie with us like the French are supposed to be right? Comparing the two situations is like mixing water and oil IMO.

From what I understand you gave saddam the funding and technology to produce and manufacture the nuclear, biological and chemical agents that you now fear (or feared) that saddam would use against you.

I am not going to point fingers at America. No one wanted fundamentalism to spread out of Iran, and America was not the only supplier of armaments to Iraq.

I do blame the Americans (well at least the coalition of countries who took part in desert storm) however, for not finishing this back in 91. You told the entire Iraqi population that you would free them from Saddam. They were all awaiting the destruction of Saddam's regime, you marched right up to Bahgdad, and went home.

Saddam murdered hundreds of thousands of his own people because they supported you, they supported the coalition.

I believe this is why there are still many Iraqis who have a general distrust of the Americans. You had Saddam in your sights and for one reason or another, you did not pull the trigger.

I am not an America basher, I have nothing against America. Let's try to keep this civil, and prevent this post from becoming a flame thread.

Interesting point. An aquaintance of mine knows a GI that was a sniper in desert storm. Now believe it or not but, the sniper had his crosshairs on Saddam and requested the kill order. Request was denied. You gotta wonder, did he or did he not. If indeed he did then I think we can all say WTF.

The last time the French asked for 'more proof' it came marching into Paris under a German flag !

Ask the families of all those american soldiers who died defending these ungreatful turncoats from both the Nazis and Russians. What is the real reason why they built the "Chunnel"?

To make it easier for the French government to evacuate to London

Pave France, Britian need's more Parking..... Sorry, but #Fist France !

France is a group of ungreatful cowerds who panic an surrender any time they are threatened and depend on the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO FREE THEM!. Then the min. that the US need a favor from France, the call us evil and try to turn every one against us. My Uncle Bud Cunningham landed at Normandy on D-day (He was lucky and survived), So that those ungreatful French could have their coweredly country back. May be we should have let the Germans keep control of france, then maybe the would have grown some balls

I have a curious question:

Have any of you actually spoke with a french citizen in the last couple of months (Or in recent years)? Do you take them all to be ugly monsters with women who don't shave? (Paddy likes that)

I suggest that you try to have a civil conversation with one (in either english or french, or maybe german if you need a neutral language). You may be surprised that our media is not representing their society well. Maybe like other media plays the americans to be so evil.

Guess who owns their largest paper? Their largest defense contractor. No wonder they get confused.

So, lets spread love in this world not this hate. It is over and done with, let it rest.

Indeed.

As a french canadian, I have access to USA TV channels, Canadian channels, and also one France channel.

What I saw on the news regarding the war was not the same depending of the channels. Sad to say, but the medias are controlling people's opinion. After all, that is usually where you get 80% of your informations on a given topic.

This winter in Quebec, I've seen the power of the medias at work. Thewz can also testify how a single TV show succeeded in making the promotion of 14 young artists without experience (like american Idols), enough so that 500 000 CDs has been sold..... remember we are 7 000 000 in Quebec. This was done by a huge campaign involving TVs, newspapers, and periodics.

It was amazing to see the effect on the population

It seems like this is coming up often in other forums I frequent, but many people have suggested that the media's "compliance" hints to George Orwell's book, 1984. A good read, in my opinion.

Another 19% is from your friends and family listening to the media.

I wonder where the last 1% is.....
