WHat's everyone's opinion on the use of two or three man fire teams? A Rifleman and an MG in a two man setup, laying down cover fire for each other as they advance up a map.

I think it's a great strategy, and one that's easy to see the advantages on. Especially a map like zafod.

Makes sense to me.

That is the same strategy I try to utilize in many of the maps. It works.

Sometimes though. . .. I like to run around with my MG hoping for a good around the corner point blank gutbusting hipshot of death. . . Man I love those!

It might be good for a more straightforward map, where you can see people from your position better, and have a straightforward shot. All the enemy needs is a good sniper or a 2 sergant rush of some kind to beat that out. If you camped, that might be a different story, but you can't advance while camping

You can't, but you don't just leapfrog the entire map. You have to take time, at choke points (Like the bridge and castle on zafod, I believe) to make sure it's actually safe to move. The MG doesn't make for the greatest weapon in a close combat situation, so it's up to your riflemen/sgts to clear the area and give the MG a high sign to move into position.

The machine gunner and sniper are great for covering advancing troops if you get them set up in a good position. Then have the MG move up with you while the sniper covers

Everytime I've seen teamwork like that it works great in DOD (if you spread out a little). Each class has its strenghts and if you work it to the map, its great fun. Win or lose.
