Well, I was off work today and got the new version installed. But when I tried playing, I get kicked after a minute or two, every time! About half the time the console gives no explanation, but often it says "Rock Man overflowed"!?

I realize this is a new ball of wax for everyone, but is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have a clue about it? Looks like I won't be playing until I figure it out.

In the beginning of the download from sierra it said that some of the ISP's may not recognize this upgrade for 24 hours for some reason that I don't remember exactly.

There is already a bug discovered in the new patch.. This is what I got from Valve..

Quote:

There looks like there is a compatiblity problem with the ATI Radeon (and
possibly other ATI Cards) and OpenGL.

People that are getting overflow errors when running on this card in
multiplayer games, will have to run in D3D mode until we can turn around a
fix for it.

We'll be working on getting a fix out for this as soon as possible.

Please let your users know about this problem.

Erik Johnson

So it looks like if you have a ATI Radeon card now your screwed temporarily.

OMFG! You would think that valve would have taken into account all popular graphics cards when they made this patch, I am not sure of the figures but I think ATI Radeon is second only to nvidia Gforce as far as gaming boards go. I hope they can fix this quickly.

Thanks, Rob. Looks like that fixed it. I got into a game on Direct 3D and played for a good while.

It's really no prob cause the old Radeon runs D3D just fine. Really can't tell any difference from running Open GL.

Bottom line..........

Dammnit! Just my luck, everytime I get a better newer video card, they always engineer their updates to other cards! F them! Always something with this ATI card I have. I imagine the next one I get will suddenly become unpopular and I 'll have to deal with all of the bugs that go along with it... *cursing to himself and then cursing the entire world of technology!* BAH!
