I just got a new sound card and logitech 5.1 speakers. When I play mp3s through either winamp or wmp or itunes the sound only comes through the 2 front speakers. Is there a way i can configure the speakers to play form all 5? My brother has 5.1 speakers and the music comes from all 5 of his.

PS I know the other 3 work cuz they work in games.

Do you have 5.1 sound on your card ? If so is it configured for 5 speakers ?

Yea my card has support for 7.1,6.1 and 5.1. The 5.1 works in games but not in any media player.

What are you using for your media player? It is usually a setting in there to play it in all 5 speakers.

sound cards have different configurations for different types of sound, music is probably set to 2 speakers. try looking thru you soundcard software for music options.

Actually, most soundcards handle the speakers the same, it is the software that is causing his problem. What is happening is that since his program (winamp I am guessing from his sig) is only transmitting the info on2 channels instead of 5, then only the two speakers are getting data. THere are 2 places to look, one is in the sound settings in your control panel, make sure you have 5.1 speakers selected, the other would be in winamp's config (I dont know where) and make sure it is set to the right speakers. Usually windows will automatically take music and play it on all channels as if it was stereo, but if it does not realize it is a music program (and you know how windows is) then it will play the music exactly as it is told, which is stereo and not 5.1
